In shades of various colors, butterflies are dainty creatures that have provided many poets and writers, inspiration for the most magnificent verses. Many have marveled at the transformation of the very modest caterpillar into a magnificent butterfly! One such species are the Blue Morpho butterflies.

The French Post has issued a stamp depicting a Blue Morpho butterfly on September 6, 2010.The butterfly is considered a symbol of grace and lightness. A Morpho butterfly may be one of over 80 species of the genus Morpho. They are Neotropical butterflies found mostly in South America as well as Mexico and Central America. The name Morpho, meaning changed or modified, is also an epithet of Aphrodite and Venus. Many Morpho butterflies are colored in metallic, shimmering shades of blue and green. These colors are not a result of pigmentation but are an example of iridescence. Morphos range in wingspan from the 7.5 cm M. rhodopteron to the imposing 20 cm.

Butterfly - Malaysia

 

There are a few butterfly farms in Malaysia. I always thought that the butterflies housed in these butterfly farms are bred within the farm themselves, however, the truth is NOT. I am told that butterflies are very difficult to be bred , the chances of having the bred butterflies within the farm are very slim, hence, the owners have to purchase live butterflies from the external source and set them free to the farm. The main supplier for these live butterflies are the "Orang Asli" of Malaysia. Believe it or NOT ?

  

 

Maluku Selatan is the name of a province in Indonesia, which wants independence and renamed the Republic of South Moluccas (REPUBLIK MALUKU SELATAN), but the struggle is only done by a small group of people in Moluccas / Ambon, so that the Indonesian government declared that their actions do not include official and his fighters were arrested, but the organization It has designed a government including the issuing of stamps, among the stamps to be issued there is a picture of a butterfly.
